Bike Fun

On Wednesday March 24, four nice people from the Bike Lab Society
came to our school and did some pretty fun things with us to do with
our bikes. First, they gave us each a piece of paper and some felt
markers and got us to visualize a world without cars and then draw
it. The drawings were all very different; some showing flowers and
trees and sunshine and others showing huge house-fires, criminals
and people dieing of untreated illnesses because of a lack of
fire-trucks, police cars, and ambulances, respectively.

Next, they took out this old bike that somone just had lying around in
his garden for years and we took it apart, learning how to use the
different bike tools as we went. The parts were put into a milk-crate
and then we made bike art, sculptures, jewlery, and more out of the
parts! While some of us were doing this art, others chose to learn how
to mend a tire and do other bike repairs while still others had fun by
using bike parts in very imaginative ways such as racing the wheels
down the yard. All in all, we had a great day!
