Earth Week (August 17th to 21st)
Earth week, which lasts from August 17th to August 21st, is itself grounds for permanent enrollment. This exciting week offers investigations concerning the soil, ground, earth which we frequently ignore. Tuesday August 18th
Biking to Bowker Creek
On Tuesday we will be biking to Bowker Creek, where students can play with the animals and plants that grow there. This field trip will allow for discussions concerning what soil produces for us, and exactly what the word 'earth' means. Surrounded by water and soil, this is an optimal location for these discussions.
Thursday August 20th
Walking to the Compost Education Centre
On Thursday we will be returning to the Compost Education Centre, but this field trip will be involved with producing compost itself. We will learn about how to make a worm bin and what is healthy soil. This field trip will end with a worm bin to take home and tend to at our school for the remaining weeks of summer.
